What I wish more people knew about Black History is that we have done so many things over and over that far too many people think are firsts. Some regular things, some spectacular things. Pervasive, all-encompassing, stifling, suffocating, soul-crushing anti-Blackness is the reason people can't accept that, and they can use that refusal of perspective to justify their anti-Blackness. Paradoxically, until they accept Black humanity (including Black people in this thought process), their own humanity remains questionable.
