My older brother was and remains an undiagnosed human with ASD. He is highly intelligent and was always inappropriately competitive, condescending, non-big brotherly, and the apple of our mother's eye. (She has her own issues.) The best thing that happened in my young life was when we ended up in different schools, with different friends and interests. The ASD kid sometimes rules the roost among siblings. He didn't know he wasn't supposed to chase his sister with a knife. He burst into tears when he realized I believed he was going to kill me.
