If chattel slavery--under which the mixed-race offspring of Black enslaved women and white enslavers and/or overseers were categorized with their mothers--was of such great benefit, is that why white men sold their own children into bondage? Was that the motivation, that it was vocational training, an apprenticeship of sorts? /s
